BLIP-CON-VIEWSION

posted by Laura Lee

A mixture of images depicting transience and novelty. Images taken by the camera in a pocket while walking; montage of scenes while in locomotion, movement oriented scenes while hand dancing with the camera to capture abstraction and the split second. Fragments of images.

MOTILE

MOTILE
Coming September, 2009.
Phinney Center Gallery, Seattle Washington

A collection of images photographed when traveling on a train, car, or bus while also moving the camera with specific hand-wrist movements. The Motile Series is a collection of abstract realism in nature.
Concept: To capture time, space, energy and motion during a spontaneous instance.
By utilizing motion and the spontaneity of the instant moment the effect creates a blurred reality. Abstract yet recognizable, but not entirely clear. At the intersection of now and then.

AIR LIGHT SOUND – 2007 Utilization of industrial and natural images presented as fragments of time, which are contradictory and unrelated, in short, modular blips. Blending diverse symbols and the abstract movement of light, all presented as a bombardment of the senses. The purpose of the concept is to shake up the mind of old perceptions and ideas for an examination beyond material, cultural or social choice. The images are high speed, fast, repetitive and redundant. Accompanied by an industrial thrash music composition performed by Laura Lee Coles : keyboards; Navaro Franco : Percussion; Shaw Killaly : Drums and Leathan Milne on guitar. Edited by Brian Gotro with Laura Lee Coles. Recorded at The Factory, Vancouver, British Columbia Canada.
