Apparently In View — Blurred Realities

posted by Laura Lee

The purpose of the unaltered spontaneous methodology is to achieve a desired result of a “blurred reality”.
.
Digital photographs realized as abstract images, which encompass light on the surface of water, images of weather beaten galvanized tin with stains that appear liquescent. Within the spontaneity the entire natural setting is used AS IS without any additional lighting.

The images are a cast of complex patterns and appear expressionistic and at times mysterious and surreal.

MOTILE
September, 2009
Phinney Center Gallery, Seattle Washington
Solo - Juried

A collection of images photographed when traveling on a train, car, or bus while also moving the camera with specific hand-wrist movements. The Motile Series is a collection of abstract realism in nature.
Concept: To capture time, space, energy and motion during a spontaneous instance.

ARTIST STATEMENT:

By utilizing motion and the spontaneity of the instant moment the effect creates a blurred reality. Abstract yet recognizable, but not entirely clear. At the intersection of now and then.
